As part of a six-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Hunter earned his Medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed his residency training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1998. Since that time, Dr. Hunter has been in private practice in Colorado. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has completed the ten-year recertification process.

Dr. Hunter is married and has four children. He enjoys fly fishing in the Colorado outdoors, and spending time with his family.

As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Hunter treats diseases of the mouth and jaws. The procedures performed in his office include extraction of wisdom teeth, uncovering and bracketing of unerupted canines, placement of dental implants including bone and soft tissue grafting, corrective jaw surgery, treatment of oral pathology and management of facial trauma.

To aid in the treatment planning and surgical management of diseases of the mouth and jaws, Dr. Hunter has 3D Digital Imaging in his office. This special imaging, also known as Cone Beam CT imaging, is a CAT scan of the mouth and jaws that provides precise information about the patient’s anatomy. This is very important in dental implant placement as these scans allow for much more precision than do conventional dental x-rays. Cone Beam CT imaging can also be very helpful in the surgical management of impacted teeth where vital structures can be precisely localized reducing some of the risks of surgery.
